*Organized a community based public information advisory committee to bring a sense of collective ownership in a community of 15,000 (four ethnic groups) for the construction of an 18-mile feeder road in Penguia Chiefdom, Republic of Sierra Leone. *Managed the coordination with the Sierra Leone Road Authority to complete the road construction while maximizing the use of low skilled laborers in two chiefdoms, including women who wanted to work.Overcame culture issues regarding women doing the work of men at the same wage rate. *Strategic Visioning Two Day Workshop to move the traditional farmers to begin thinking and acting as not just subsistence farmers, but begin moving towards agri-business to ensure food security while increasing production of cash crops. *Expanding education opportunity through provision of scholarships to Penguia Chiefdom students;currently designed a model andseeking funding to mitigate the problems of non-certified teachers in the schools. *We are preparing a proposal requested by a foundation for land reclamation of sites destroyed by alluvial gold mining that can be returned to alternative and economically productive uses. This reclamation initiative affects the environment, public health and safety, and the potential for increased lands available for agriculture. Project will embed local management skills and provide jobs to low skilled workers for 24 months.
